Our Auction House Connections & Successes
We’re often contacted by clients who feel they may have an auction-worthy item or two they’d like to find a new home for. We have decades of experience identifying standout items and directing them to the appropriate auction house specialists. (In instances where the sentimental value of a family heirloom somewhat exceeds its market value, we're pleased to make other recommendations.)
We are skilled at providing the research needed to determine if your items are of significant value. We’ve had great success for our clients in consigning items in a broad range of categories, including: fine art, antique and Mid-century Modern furniture, Asian items, decorative furnishings, photography, fine jewelry, books, and textiles. Among the auction houses to whom we've successfully directed items for clients are Bonhams (San Francisco, Los Angeles, London); Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Abell, L.A. Modern Auctions, John Moran, Andrew Jones, and Orrill’s (all in Los Angeles); Swann Galleries (New York); Rago Auctions (Lambertville, NJ); Wright Auctions (Chicago); PBA Book Auction Galleries (San Francisco); and Heritage Auctions (based in Dallas).
Since 2020, most auction houses have converted to conducting online-only sales. This has been an excellent development for sellers, exponentially enlarging the pool of potential bidders. Online auctions are increasingly attended by buyers worldwide, often driving higher selling prices. Thganks to our relationships with numerous auction houses, we are frequently able to negotiate lower-than-standard commission rates, benefiting our clients. Below is a sampling of items we’ve directed to auction in the past several years with excellent returns.
If you have possible treasures looking for a new home, we’d be delighted to consult with you. Please contact [email protected] or call (626) 221-4148. We’re actively on the search for the next fabulous estate sale–to which you’ll all be invited, of course!
